I’d like to say that people ask me all the time why I love the Black Hills so much, but I can’t because they don’t. Likely because they have seen the Black Hills and the reasons are obvious. However, I do feel a need to gush about my home from time to time.

This is one of those times. Just a tidbit of trivia, really.

Belle Fourche is on the Northern edge of the Black Hills. It’s home to about 5,500 people. Also, Devil’s Tower is only 52 miles west, and it’s a pretty drive.

Belle Fourche is about 20 minutes from Spearfish or Sturgis.

And this year is the 99th Annual Black Hills Roundup: June 30 - July 4th.

Rapid City is an easy drive on 90.

Did you know that the Black Hills are the center of our nation? To be more accurate, the center is in Belle Fourche. There is a marker just off 5th street.

Ok, the actual spot is 21 miles north of town, but that would be a hard place to put a marker. Or to get to. So, if you are visiting the Black Hills, take a drive to Belle Fourche and know that you are halfway across the country, no matter which direction you were heading. I’m surprised more people don’t take a picture standing there. It certainly begs it.
